Iran has emerged as a major winner from the regional unrest of the last decade. In Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon and the Palestinian territories, Teheran has succeeded in implanting proxies and building influence. What are the roots of this success? How are efforts to resist the advance of Iran faring, and how has the war in Ukraine, the Russian predicament and the growing strategic axis between Russia and Iran altered this picture?


Jonathan Spyer is considered one of Israel’s leading experts on Iran. The journalist, author and analyst of Middle East affairs is a research fellow at the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security (JISS) and the founder and director of the Middle East Center for Reporting and Analysis (MECRA). Spyer has published in leading international media, including the Wall Street Journal and Foreign Affairs.
