Abdel-Hakim Ourghi: The Jews in the Koran - A distorted image with fatal consequences

Book presentation, lecture and discussion

At the age of 23, Abdel-Hakim Ourghi came to Germany from Algeria as an indoctrinated anti-Semite. He saw Jews as perpetrators and Muslims as victims. A distorted image, inculcated in mosques, Arab schools and universities. ‘May Allah humiliate and destroy the cursed Jews!’ - This prayer of supplication is still repeated on Fridays in the mosques of Algeria and other Arab states. The Koran itself formulates a stereotypical register of sins of the Jews. The canonical sources of Islam must therefore be meticulously analysed and critically scrutinised. Ourghi's essay sees itself as a contribution to a reform of Islam on the way to a religion of peace.

The Programmschänke Bajszel and the MFFB invite you to the event on 11 May at 7:30 pm at Bajszel (Emser Str. 8/9, 12051 Berlin).
